1430 AN EXPLORATORY STUDY ON THE ECONOMICS OF DEVELOPING CLARK INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Aviation authorities and the government, in general, are faced with a policy decision on the country’s primary international gateway, given the current congestion in the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). This situation is only expected to worsen given the limited capacity of NAIA, the lack of options for further development and the country’s push towards promoting tourism. The Clark International Airport (CIA) in Pampanga has long been suggested as a possible candidate to replace and / or complement NAIA as an international gateway. This presentation explores the economics of developing the CIA as one of the Philippine’s main international airports.
