Qatar Airways will continue servicing international routes to and from Clark, Country Manager Philippines Abdallah Okasha declared in yesterday’s Clark Aviation Conference at the Holiday Inn Resort, Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga.
Early this month, Emirates Airlines halted its direct flights to and from Clark International Airport (CRK) to Dubai, UAE, barely seven months after servicing the route, due to low load factors, intense competition from other carriers on the same route and the controversial excise tax which the Bureau of International Revenue has imposed on jet fuel for international flights.
However, Qatar Airways will abide by its commitment to CRK, the executive confirmed.
Qatar Airways last year launched their non-stop daily flights via Doha-Clark-Doha at Clark Airport that paved the way for Middle East airlines servicing the Central and Northern Luzon area.
So far, the airline registered a 50 percent to 90 percent increase in load factor since it started flights at Clark Airport. The airline is currently using an Airbus 330 aircraft with a capacity of 305 passengers.
Qatar Airways flies at least 133 destinations worldwide connecting Clark to the rest of the world. The airlines was awarded back to back as Best Airlines in the World in 2011 and 2012 by Skytrax.
